Ford motorsport – powered by road car technology
At Ford, we're heavily involved in motorsport with Formula Ford. 2013 sees some exciting changes for the championship on top of the fact that, our Formula Ford vehicles are powered by EcoBoost engines. It's the same engine technology available in many of our road cars, so we're particularly proud that it meets motorsport's high standards, too.
Formula FordFormula Ford has the longest and most illustrious pedigree of any single-seater championship in the world. Since its introduction in 1967, it has given thousands of young drivers and technicians unrivalled racing experience and started many successful careers in motor racing. Formula 1 World Champions Jenson Button, James Hunt, Emerson Fittipaldi, Jody Scheckter, Ayrton Senna, Nigel Mansell, Damon Hill, Mika Hakkinen and Michael Schumacher all began in Formula Ford.2013 sees a series of major developments for the championship. The cars will now carry wings and will reach 200BHP. But coupled with that these single-seater cars are the first of their type to meet the demanding FIA (Federation Internationale de l'Automobile) safety standards. Like our road cars they are powered by the advanced EcoBoost engine and also feature kinetic design body styling. Plus if that wasn't enough, the championship will now be on the same race series as the spectator friendly British Touring Car Championship.
